Südafrika 1.85oz South Africa – 1996 – Krugerrand – Prestige Set – Proof – 4 Gold Coins – Box FB

South Africa – 1996 – Krugerrand – Prestige Set – Gold – Proof – 4 Coins – 1.85 oz Fine Gold – Wooden Box COA – Set of 150

This 1996 Krugerrand Prestige Set is a particularly collectible collection because it showcases the iconic Krugerrand not just in one size, but as a complete proof ensemble with four denominations. This creates a harmonious set that is both visually and collectibly superior to a single proof issue, while simultaneously combining the appeal of fractional coins with the presence of the 1-oz coin.

Included are 1 oz , 1/2 oz , 1/4 oz , and 1/10 oz gold coins in proof finish, totaling 1.85 oz of pure gold . The classic motifs remain unchanged: the springbok on the obverse and Paul Kruger on the portrait side with the inscription SUID-AFRIKA – SOUTH AFRICA . The design appears particularly high-quality in proof finish because the reflective fields and matte reliefs create a clear contrast, allowing fine details to stand out very clearly.

Furthermore, the presentation is a key part of the prestige concept: The set comes in the original wooden box with a plaque reading “1996 Prestige Krugerrand 150,” clearly identifying this particular piece as part of Set 150. The set is complemented by the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) , and all four coins are already encapsulated , which is practical for storage and preservation of value, while also allowing for an immediately collector-ready display.
