Namibia – 1987 – 100 Rand – 75 Years of the Equestrian Monument – Gold – Proof – NGC PF67 Ultra Cameo – Doubled Die Reverse – Mintage 25 – Cert 3158822-001

This exceptionally rare Namibian trial strike from 1987 was issued to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the equestrian statue in Windhoek. The coin thus incorporates a historical motif from the time of German South West Africa, combining colonial symbolism with modern numismatic rarity.

The coin is marked as a proof (pattern) , which is documented by the inscription “PROBE” below the denomination 100 R. The mintage is limited to only 25 pieces worldwide , making this issue structurally an exceptional rarity.

The front side depicts the equestrian statue, supplemented by the years 1912 and 1987. The reverse side shows elephants, the denomination 100 R, and the note “PROBE”.

Of particular note is the Doubled Die Reverse die variant identified by NGC. This is a documented doubling of the reverse die image and therefore a clearly defined variety.

This particular specimen has been certified by NGC with PF67 Ultra Cameo . This results in deeply reflective fields and a pronounced contrast between polished surfaces and matte relief details.
