Yugoslavia – 1968 – 500 Dinara – 25th Anniversary of the 2nd Session of AVNOJ – Gold – Proof – PCGS PR67 Deep Cameo – Mintmark NI – Cert 41723008

This exceptional gold-proof coin from Yugoslavia was minted in 1968 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the second session of the AVNOJ . The AVNOJ, the Anti-Fascist Council for the National Liberation of Yugoslavia, convened on November 29th and 30th, 1943 In Jajce, in present-day Bosnia and Herzegovina, the fundamental political decisions that would later pave the way for the structure of the Yugoslav state were made. This makes this issue not only numismatically attractive but also a clearly historically situated document.

The design depicts a powerful figurative scene with raised flags, symbolizing the founding and liberation narrative of this era. The image is rendered in three dimensions and gains considerable depth through the proof finish with its strong contrast between polished areas and frosted reliefs. The reverse bears the country name and the face value of 500 Dinara. The coin was minted with the mintmark NI in Unoaerre, Italy.

The example offered here has been certified by PCGS with PR67 Deep Cameo . This grade signifies excellent proof quality with pronounced cameo contrast, sharp relief, and very clean surfaces. Such a high grade is by no means a given for Eastern European gold proof issues of this period and is specifically sought after by specialized collectors.

The combination of a clearly defined historical dedication, high gold content and sophisticated proof minting makes this issue a highly attractive collector’s item for lovers of international commemorative coins and Eastern European gold .
