This impressive 1 oz Alderney gold coin was issued in 2021 to celebrate the 95th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II . It features the famous “Una and the Lion” motif – reinterpreted by renowned Royal Mint designer Jody Clark , who is also responsible for the 5th portrait of the Queen on British coins.

The issue offered here has been graded by PCGS with the highest possible grade PR70 DCAM (Deep Cameo) and bears the individual certificate number 44275354. Only a few examples worldwide have been preserved in this perfection.

Design & Symbolism

The reverse depicts the iconic “Una and the Lion” scene—a classic allegorical motif originally used on the legendary British coin of 1839 under Queen Victoria. In Jody Clark’s reinterpretation, Una , here symbolizing Elizabeth II, leads the majestic lion as a symbol of courage, leadership, and royal dignity.

The obverse shows an elegant portrait of Queen Elizabeth II , as usual surrounded by the inscription “ELIZABETH II · ALDERNEY · 2021 · 100 POUNDS”.
