Roman Republic, Julius Caesar with C. Clovius, AE dupondius (13.35 g), Rome 45 BC. Bust of winged Victory right/Minerva advancing left with trophy and shield.
Mediocre condition as shown; offered "as is".
Cr. 476/1a
From an old Austrian collection formed circa 1960s, with numbered ticket (453) noting provenance to Trau; and believed to be from the Trau family collection (formed 1850-1931), Hess with Gilhofer & Ranschburg, 22 May 1935, lot 29 (described as "Gehring erhalten" i.e. pretty much as bad as possible !)
This coin seems certain to be that of the Trau collection; I offer it "as is" given the poor condition; nevertheless you are welcome to return it at any time for a refund if it proves to be a forgery, ancient or modern.
Please note that as this coin cannot be sold under the margin scheme, VAT is due at 21% for customers within the EU. For other customers, the VAT can be deducted from the price.
