On the nineteenth of December 1736 the wife of future Stadholder Willem IV, princess Anna of England, birthed a daughter; sadly, the child passed away only half an hour later. Nicolaas van Swinderen (1705-1760) commemorated the event on this medal in the form a ‘Apple of Orange’ from the tree on the left of the obverse. Contemporaneous cast in tin/lead.
