The two engraved dates, 1 May 1935 and 1 November 1947, are exactly twelve years and six months apart and therefore indicate that the piece commemorates a 12½-year service jubilee.

Bedrijfshoreca was active in the organisation of the Dutch hotel, café, restaurant, pension and related hospitality trades during the 1940s. Its historical records are preserved in the Dutch National Archives, including annual reports covering the period 1942–1951.

The full identity and position of J.P. Rozenkranz have not yet been established, making the personalised inscription an interesting avenue for further archival research.

An unusual and highly personal piece of Dutch hospitality-industry history from the immediate post-war period.
