The year 1945 went down in history as the end of one of the darkest periods in human existence. While World War II officially ended in Europe with the surrender of Nazi Germany on 8th May 1945, it lasted in Asia until 15th August. The signing of the Japanese surrender took place on 2nd September 1945. In many countries of the former Allies, the victory is still celebrated annually today. This Coin-In Folder is a special numismatic tribute to the great event. It includes nine coins that were issued during the war in various participating countries, as well as three stamps, one from the Soviet Union, one from “Free India” and one from the United States depicting the victory parade in Paris.
