We are offering high grade and RARE an Ausbeutetaler - a Mining Taler issued under Joseph Maria Benedict, Prince of Fuestenberg, Stuhlingen Branch (1783-1796). This coin was minted from a silver from the Friedrich Christian Mine near Schapbach in the Black Forest Region. Low mintage per Krause - 806 pieces ONLY! Spectacular medallic design with romantic mountain landscape on reverse reflecting the Hirschbach valley and the Friedrich Christian mining operation. You can perfectly see the mine entrance, buildings and ore-processing equipment on the left, and the ventilation shaft with its little flag in the distance to the right. Interesting thing is that per Kuenker, the flag indicates that the mine was "in Ausbeute" - actually producing a distributable yield. The inscription is also reflects the historical period of the successful silver production - " With God, through skill and labor" and "The Friedrich Christian mine yielded this for distribution in the quarter of the Cross, 1790" below. The dies were cut by Johann Heinrich Boltschauser, the Mannheim Palatine medallist - the person behind such a spectacular medallic look of the coin (per Kuenker). This is one of the top-quality specimens with exceptionally well-preserved details, strong underlying mint luster, attractive old silver toning more prominent towards the edges, sharply rendered portrait with some adjustment lines and unusually complete details in the elaborate mining panorama. Graded as MS 64 per NGC with only two coins graded higher in population. Great collectible, historic and investment find!!!
