A perfect Gem Proof 5 Mark coin from the exceptionally small Proof issue of the one-year and commemorative specimen- to Commemorate 50th Anniversary of Reign. Deeply reflective fields beneath attractive champagne with subtle golden peripheral toning. Ernst's portrait is boldly rendered with remarkably complete small details of the hair, beard and wreath, while the reverse Imperial eagle (type 2) exhibits superb feather details and considerable contrast against the mirrored fields. Minor wispy imperfections are largely concealed by the attractive original toning. This is the perfect example of the classic early-20th-century German mirrored Proof with subtle frost and toning, rather than stark black-and-whide dipped contrast. Great collectible and investment find!!
