Roman Bronze Lamp Stand with Eagles, ca. 1st-3rd Century AD. A finely cast Roman bronze miniature standard or lamp stand terminal. The piece features a square architectural pedestal base supporting four outward-facing imperial eagles arranged on each corner. Each eagle is rendered with outstretched wings, detailed plumage, and realistic modeling. In the Roman world, the eagle (aquila) was a potent symbol of Jupiter, imperial authority, and military triumph. Miniature stands of this variety typically served as decorative structural components, support terminals, or finials for high-status household items like bronze oil lamp candelabra.
