ROMAN REPUBLIC AR silver denarius circa 42 B.C. The Caesarians, C. Julius Caesar, Rome - posthumous by L. Mussidius Longus - VF+ lightly toned, with EF details on reverse

Struck in 42 B.C. by the moneyer L. Mussidius Longinus for the now-deceased and soon to be deified dictator. A clear indication he was a supporter of the Caesarians, who were chasing the assassins of Julius Caesar. They would find them at the massive battle of Philippi, where the Caesarians emerged victorious

Reverse: Rudder, cornucopia on globe, winged caduceus, and apex; L • MVSSIDIVS • LONGVS in semicircle above
