Rundeskatten - with two ducat from 1724 in gold. Total of 13 coins.
300 years ago, on March 8, 1725, the Dutch ship Akerendam sank off Runde in Sunnmøre in Norway. The crew of about 200 men died in the sinking.
The ship was on its way from Holland to Batavia (Jakarta in Indonesia). The ship was going to Indonesia to buy spices. On board were trade goods and gold coins, which were to be used to buy spices and other valuable goods in eastern Asia. Perhaps most famous are the gold coins that were found on board and which were referred to as the Runde Treasure.
